“Silent Night”
Some are obeying Jesus entirely, no matter what He would require them.
Others just select. What they want, what is suitable for them. A good friend was saying to me recently: some people say: “I’ve done that, and that, well, is ok with that, but… to do that thing too… no, that’s enough…!
Some are obeying Jesus entirely. Others only partly.
There are only few who really obey Him.
But learning, listening, obeying entirely come in time. But I believe that God has a constant number of persons who really obey Him.
Some are receiving Jesus in their hearts. They invite Him in the living room, and ask Him to feel as He is at home; they offer Him the best chair. To be sure that He is has a comfortable sojourn there, so He will want to stay there. Because they want to be sure that He has no reason to go away. They act that way, so He will feel He is at home, so this wonderful guest will want to become their Host. Then, maybe He will help them cleaning, winnowing. Maybe He will sort for them, to keep what He likes and to throw away what He hates. And He will lead their “houses” from now on.
Others hold Jesus in the lobby:
- See, it’s a mess here, in my house … I didn’t clean for a long time, because I’m so busy … sorry I can’t invite You in.
So, Jesus stays in the lobby for a while. But how could He remain somewhere He is not desirable?
- Well, I’ll come another day …
- Phone me before, so I’ll be home (or not having other guests).
How could He become your master, your heart’s lover, your “house” manager, if you have other concerns, other interests, something “better” to do?
1 Corinthians 1.18: For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God.
An angel with heavenly wings. A sweet, diaphanous angel, but also strong and having wisdom from his Master: our Lord. An immaculate angel, not having spot, or wrinkle.
This is how Jesus wants His church. This is how Jesus wants each of us.
Giving up at sin, not hiding it! Why not hiding it? Because:
1. – ”Neither is there any creature that is not manifest in his sight: but all things are naked and opened unto the eyes of him with whom we have to do.” Hebrews 4.13;
2. – How do you want to grow up if you hide your sin? Keeping secret? That’s impossible. It can’t be. A mature person should learn to be straight, open, not to have secrets. Your secret forecloses your growing up. That’s because you will always feel guilty before God. You know that He knows!
A mature person should be determined, should stand on God’s principles. He should be small as human but huge in God. Huge in the love God expects you to answer. Huge in the purity of your soul. Huge in your desire, your entire will to accomplish His Will. Not Him to accomplish your will.
If you pray him to give you, and give you and give you again, who’s the boss here, you or God? Who does who’s will? Who is waiting and working to make the other’s will? God for you? Don’t lie yourself anymore! If this is how the things are, if God is the One who must offer you again and again, don’t lie yourself that you want Him!
You are only someone who wants something from God. You don’t want God, you want something from Him. You could appear as a christian, you could even appear as His disciple. But what use?! HE KNOWS HOW THE THINGS ARE! Maybe this appearance is useful for your image in the church you are attending, or for your group, but this is only for short-term.
The day when you’ll meet Him, you will not be able to convince Him with “See, Lord, people liked the way I acted, they thought I am Yours.” Is your choice if you want Him or you want to seem you want Him. Is your choice.
